I look forward to showing my work at the 4th Annual Fairfax Art Walk on Friday evening, September 29, from 5–9 p.m. Each participating merchant partners with a local artist, and I’ll be in front of a cute shop called SOON! at 51 Bolinas Road.
It’s Because of the Pants
I’d seen announcements for the art walk and wondered if I might get involved someday, but I had no idea how that might happen. Then, last week, I was driving home when my eyes snagged on a pair of pants hanging in the doorway of SOON! I’d been seeing these wide-legged, rust-colored corduroy pants — a perfect lure for me — on and off for about a month, and finally, I thought, to heck with it, I’m going in.
The pants didn’t fit quite right, but once in the shop, I was surrounded by delightful art and enthusiastically greeted by Rachel Hannah, the artist at work. We started chatting about our artwork, and she asked me why I wasn’t participating in the Fairfax Art Walk. Then she invited me to be her hosted artist. I was thrilled!
Here’s a taste of Rachel’s art:
Rachel and I are a great fit. Both of us make a lot of quirky, whimsical art. While her jewelry and tin art are more purely (and remarkably!) upcycled, I also include recycled or upcycled work in almost everything I do.
What I’ll Bring to the Walk
I plan to have a wide range of pieces and price points at the walk. My newest work, big Tough Guy Steve will be there, along with Lucito and Valentino. Also, I’ll have some smaller kraft paper pigeons, tiny post-it portraits, prints, and lots of fun heartstrings.
I’d love to see you!
